Silky Sakura fragrance oil has the ingredient Butylphenyl Methylpropional (aka Lilial) which when used at 10% in a mixture (e.g. wax melt, candle etc) still triggers the Silhouette hazard pictogram (aka ‘chesty man’) accompanied by the relevant hazard & precautionary statements. This oil has an IFRA guidance level for Category 11 (candles and melts) of 100% so please don’t be concerned about using it in wax melts and candles at your normal dilution levels, and as usual you would tailor the CLP to your finished product. This oil in its current formula may not be suitable for other products depending on level of dilution in your finished product, but as with any product you would make, please check the IFRA guidance document for safe usage levels. For anyone that doesn’t know, Butylphenyl Methylpropional (aka Lilial) is the ingredient that is due to banned for use in cosmetics (i.e. bath bombs, shower scrubs, shampoo, body lotion etc). However, our main manufacturer (who makes this oil too) has found an alternative raw material to replace Lilial, and the plan is to gradually phase it out from all formulations, irrespective of finished product application.
