Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your fragrance oils safe to use?

Yes they are, and we work closely with our manufacturers to create oils that are as safe as possible to work with, smell amazing, and are a great quality ingredient for you to add to your products to give them an amazing fragrance.

However, it is very important to note that our oils are professional grade 100% neat concentrated chemical fragrance oils, some of which can be dangerous if not handled safely. Please read through the ‘CLP and Safety Data Sheet’ page and also the ‘Terms, Conditions and Privacy Policy’ page on our website before purchasing oils from Oasis Oils Ltd. You must also read the Safety Data Sheet for any oil that you plan to use, so that you understand the hazards associated with using professional grade fragrance oils, and how to safely enjoy using them to make your own scented products.

By purchasing oils from Oasis Oils Ltd you are confirming that you have read the relevant Safety Data Sheet and will take responsibility to use the oil safely.

Yes, they are cruelty free. We do not carry out any testing on animals ourselves. The statements from our manufacturers also confirm that they do not use any materials or ingredients in the oils which are of animal origin, also that they have never been tested on animals by the manufacturer, or on their behalf. The oils do not contain any animal derived ingredients, or come into contact with any materials which could be derived from animals during manufacture, and so are free from Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE).

We do not currently have a CLP label printing service.

The CLP guidance information is provided to Oasis Oils Ltd by our manufacturers, who ‘do CLP’ as their day job so to speak, so you can be confident that the guidance is correct.

It is important to remember that CLP could possibly apply to any number of products that these oils can be used for.

There are hundreds of products the oils could be used in including pesticides, melts, cat litter, candles, baby wipes, bleach, scented nappy sacks, disinfectant and so many more. Many, but not all, of the products that you can use these oils for will need CLP, therefore the CLP guidance information that the manufacturers provide is very generic and encompasses all of the relevant information for the fragrance oil component of a product, it is not specific to melts and candles.

It is then up to the maker or manufacturer of a product (i.e. you), to decide which parts of the CLP information should be used in their own personal final product. If you are not confident in doing this, then it would be best to chat to your own local Trading Standards Officer so that they can offer you their thoughts on the matter. You will find, that what one Trading Standards Officer (TSO) will say, might be different to another TSO from another area.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please also remember that CLP information is likely to be just one part of the safety information you may need for your product. For example, candles need CLP and safety warnings, and cosmetic products (soap, shampoo, bath bombs etc) wont need CLP but must be assessed by a Cosmetic Safety Assessor before you are legally allowed to sell any of those products. To protect yourself and your customers you must research the product that you are making, to understand all aspects of safely making and selling that product before you sell it.

Our oils are suitable for use in a very wide range of products. Each oil has it’s own IFRA document which will tell you what percentage of that specific oil is safe to use in any number of different products. To check the IFRA for any product you wish to make with our oils, go the the website listing for the oil you are using, scroll down to the ‘Technical Documents’ tab and click on that. Open the IFRA document then look through each Category on the IFRA to find the Category that your product fits within, then check the safe percentage for that Category.
